St Ives is a world famous art centre, with many art galleries and studios, exhibiting work from local artists, the following are a selection but you will find many more hidden away amongst the cobbled streets of St Ives. The Art Pass offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy amazing exhibitions at six outstanding venues across West Cornwall. For the first time Tate St Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Leach Pottery, Penlee House Gallery & Museum, and Newlyn Art Gallery & the Exchange have worked together to help visitors get more out of Penwith's rich artistic offering.
The Tate Gallery St Ives
The Tate Gallery opened in St Ives in 1993 and although it has no permanent collection, it bases its exhibitions on the works of contemporary artists. Open all year round, details of the current exhibtion can be found on their website . Even if the exhibition does not appeal, its dramatic position overlooking Porthmeor Beach makes this a must visit in St Ives.

The Barbara Hepworth Museum
The Barbara Hepworth museum and sculpture garden gives a remarkable insight into the work of this famous twentieth century resident of St Ives. Also open all year round and in the centre of St Ives, more information can be found on their website. Combination tickets available for The Tate Galley and Barbara Hepworth Museum.

Leach Pottery
The museum dedicated to the life's work of Bernard Leach who settled in St Ives in 1920 bringing with him the skills of pottery and ceramics from his experiences in Japan. His influence on the many students who studied under him, together with his own pieces are illustrated in the museum. On the Penzance road leaving St Ives towards on the B3306.

Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange
Newlyn Art Gallery has a 112 year history of developing regionally significant contemporary art projects. The newly refurbished gallery reopened in 2007, alongside major new art space The Exchange, in the heart of Penzance. Most exhibitions are free, art courses for adults and talks are given.

Penlee House Gallery
Penlee House Gallery & Museum is an elegant gallery set within
a Victorian house and park. Changing exhibitions mainly feature famous
'Newlyn School' and Lamorna Group artists. Found on Morrab Road Penzance.

New Millenium Gallery
New Millenium Gallery The Gallery is unique in the context of St Ives in that it is the only private space that is large enough to put on major one-person shows. The gallery is a product of twenty years of collecting which has led to a love of highly abstract and innovative contemporary art work.
Printmakers Gallery
The Printmakers Gallery's role is to promote the work of artists who live and work in Cornwall and the web site has allowed not only the promotion of the gallery but also to widen the audience of the artists' work and promote St Ives as a centre for culture. The gallery can be found on Tregenna Hill and opened in 1998 as a showcase for fine examples of contemporary printmaking.

St Ives Ceramics
St Ives Ceramics Owned by potter John Bedding, former apprentice and then assistant of Bernard Leach for almost 10 years, is considered one of the principal galleries in the South West - and beyond. It brings together high quality ceramics, both for domestic usage and art collection and enables visitors to view works by local potters as well as leading potters of international status, past and present.
