Carbis Bay Holidays :: Cycling

Cycling holidays in Cornwall are very popular. We would recommend spending a day of your holiday exploring some of Cornwall's highlights with a self-guided tour by bicycle. If you choose not to bring your bike on holiday, there are plenty of cycle hire shops conveniently located near to the trails.
There are some superb cycling routes in Cornwall, and cycling along The Cornish Way, you will travel along some beautiful quiet country lanes and car-free trails. We are sure you will be delighted by the stunning coast and country scenery, picturesque villages and ancient mining landscapes.
We have included a map of a selection of routes for your convenience. One of our favourite cycling trails for all the family is The Camel Way.
The Camel Trail, Padstow to Bodmin
The Camel Trail provides access to the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Winding along the spectacular Camel Estuary Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this route is traffic free and virtually level. A fun day out for all the family.

The First and Last Trail, Hayle to Land's End
Take the bus to Hayle and hire your cycle. This route starts out along the relatively level river valleys from Hayle towards the south coast at Marazion where the castle of St. Michael's Mount provides a beautiful back-drop. Heading in-land along quiet lanes, the trail takes in the ancient landscape of Cornwall and the picturesque villages of Mousehole, Lamorna and Sennen and eventually a more rugged Land's End. An ideal route to experience traditional Cornwall with the more touristy Land's End, where we recommend you try Ann's famous Cornish pasties.

The Engine House Trail, Hayle to Truro
Reminders of Cornwall's industrial heritage are everywhere along this trail. Leaving Hayle, it follows quiet minor roads to Camborne before utilising a largely traffic-free route along the base of the ancient monument of Carn Brea to Redruth. This whole area was once the thriving centre of the most intensively mined region anywhere in England. Leaving Redruth, the trail passes through the old mining village of Carharrack before joining more old tramway routes to Bissoe as it makes its way to the bustling cathedral city of Truro.
