St Ives is famous for its art galleries, studios and craftshops. Since the 19th Century, St Ives has attracted many artists, professional and amateur, with many of international acclaim, gaining inspiration here, working in studios still in use today. A stone's throw from the harbour area is a host of narrow streets and passageways comprising the old part of the town, all interconnecting and offering innumerable opportunities to explore.

With cobbled streets, steep slopes and steps, the secret corners, the unexpected delight at almost every turn, St. Ives is a sparkling treasure. Don't forget to visit the Sloop Inn this is St Ives most popular pub right on the harbour front and dates back to 1312.

It might not seem like a viable place to sunbathe, but St Ives harbour's sheltered position makes an excellent sun trap and its town centre location means many take to its broad, sandy beach at low tide. Close to all the amenities, you'll have the added attraction of sharing the harbour with brightly painted and picturesque Cornish trawlers. Dogs banned Easter to October .

As a working harbour,there are boat trips to Seal Island and trips on the gaff rig Dolly Pentreath around the harbour. The St Ives Museum close by is full of interesting material describing the history of the fishing industry in the town. Stop for a pasty along the seafront - but watch out for the seagulls.
