Cornwall has always be renowned for its pasties and clotted cream and even if Padstow is credited with introducing fine cuisine to Cornwall, St Ives has certainly taken over in terms of the quality and variety of restaurants. The following are some St Ives restaurants recommended by ourselves and by our previous clients. From Carbis Bay, catch the train, be at your table 10 minutes later, but whatever the time of year you are well advised to book, particularly weekends.
Seagrass - 01736 793763 - opened on May 2011, using the best seasonal and local produce, Head Chef Lee Groves (semi finalist of Masterchef The Professionals 2010) has created a range of amazing dishes to excite the palate and the eye.
The Loft and Terrace - 01736 794204 - is situated in the heart of old St Ives’ artists’ quarter. The Loft and Terrace are wonderful spots to enjoy lunch or dinner and take in the views across St Ives Bay. High quality menu mainly fresh fish and seafood.
Blas Burgerworks - 01736 797272 - tucked down a narrow street appropriately named The Warren. Probably the best burgers you will ever taste, made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with the most fantastic selection of fillings. Try the chilli relish it's scrumptious.
Cafe Coast - 01736 794925 - on the harbourside with lovely sea views, a child friendly restaurant offering pizza, pasta and seafood.
The Mermaid - 01736 796816 - In the Downalong area of St Ives this is one of the most famous and unusual restaurants and has deserved reputation as being one of the finest seafood restaurants in Cornwall.
On Shore - 01736 796000 - right on the harbour front, wood burning stove, Mediterranean style, pizzas. Breakfast, coffee and a slice of homemade cake, fantastic seafood dishes and pizzas for lunch or in the evening, the seafood specials are excellent.
Porthminster Beach Cafe - 01736 795352 - this award winning restaurant is on the beach. The menu reflects the change in seasonal vegetables and the finest local produce available. Cornish seafood and shellfish from the sea just outside your window, herbs and vegetables from their garden right next to the café.
Porthgwidden Beach Cafe - 01736 796791 - above the beach with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine.
Porthmeor Beach Cafe - 01736 793366 - the breakfasts are renowned in St Ives and the tapas menu has an acclaimed reputation, wonderful location over the beach, enjoy the stunning sunsets.
Seafood Cafe - 01736 794004 - on Fore Street a very popular restaurant offering anew concept in dining, choose from a display selection of fresh local fish & shellfish, prime Cornish meats & free range poultry. Cooked to your style with your choice of sauce, potatoes, and vegetables.
Caffe Pasta - 01736 796447 - right on the Wharf, pasta and pizzeria, great atmosphere and lovely views across the habour. Great for lunch or evening dinner.
Alba Restaurant - 01736 797222 - an award winning restaurant in the site of the old lifeboat house, on the Wharf. Fine dining specialising in local produce, line-caught fish and seasonal vegetables.
The Mex - 01736 797658 - mainly Mexican food - good intimate atmosphere - early evening deals.
New World - 01736 797341 - relaxed atmosphere, just off the Wharf, freshly cooked oriental cuisine.
Rajpoot - 01736 795307 - on Gabriel Street, excellent Indian cuisine
Alfresco Cafe Bar - 01736 793797 - right on the harbourside, features in the Which? Good Food Guide and is also Michelin recommended.
St. Andrews Bistro - 01736 797074 - a quirky bistro with a variety of great tasting and well prepared meals. There's even a classic one armed bandit fo you to have a go on when leaving!
Spinacios - 01736 798818 - wonderfully situated overlooking the harbour, offering great vegetarian cusisine.
