Carbis Bay Sunset and Sunrise

Carbis Bay is north facing, the sun rises over Hayle and Godrevy and sets over Porthminster Point at the end of Carbis Bay beach, so you can enjoy both.

Chances are you may enjoy the spectacular colours from your holiday property, but a walk down to the beach to experience the reflections on the sea, is strongly recommended.

Hayle Towans sunset

Just a short drive out of St Ives or Carbis Bay, after Lelant village take the left turn to Hayle, past the estuary on your left, drive into Hayle with the river on your left and after passing Philps Pasties the road turns sharp right. Immediatley turn left over the iron bridge and keep left. The road/track follows the river and winds it way through the sand dunes of Hayle Towans. There is a pay and display car park from which you can enjoy the stunning sunsets across St Ives Bay.

St Ives sunset

Porthmeor beach in St Ives is one of the places to experience the best sunsets. This is a popular beach for surfers so you should get some good silhouettes. There is a restaurant at the head of the beach but you will certainly have to book in high season, if not just relax on the sandy beach and take in the colours.

Lands End sunset

Lands End - the silhouettes of disused mines and the towering granite cliffs, provide a stunning contrast to the orange and red colours as the sun sinks below the horizon. On a clear evening you may see the Longships Lighthouse and surrounding islands.  Drive down to Sennen Cove and then take the coastal path towards to St Ives to get the best vantage points.

Sunrise at Carbis Bay

Sunrise over Hayle and Godrevy from Carbis Beach Apartments, just draw back the curtains in the master bedroom and enjoy the colours. Step out onto the decking or patio or perhaps stroll down to the beach to see the reflections on the sea.

Porthmeor Beach Sunset

Always take your camera with you when visiting St Ives, particularly in the evening. Another Cornish gem from one of our regular guests taken at Porthmeor Beach on a May evening.

Portreath sunset

A stunning sunset at Portreath just up the coast from St Ives.  Gull Rock is on the right of the picture, in the foreground you can see the local gig coming ashore from practice, also the last of the day' surfers.

Sennen Sunset

Contented silhouettes having enjoyed a stunning sunset on the rocks near Sennen Cove, the South West Coast path from Sennen to Lands End is one to enjoy at any time of the day, but on a clear evening, this is the place to be.

Hayle Estuary

A kite surfer enjoys the last hours of the day, wonderful backdrop of St Ives. The Hayle Estuary is an ideal location for wind and kite surfing,  this 3 mile expanse of glorious sand extends across Gwithian towards Godrevy.

St Nicholas Chapel

The Chapel of St Nicholas is on the Island between Porthgwidden beach and Porthmeor beach so enjoys spectacular view along the Cornish coastline,  The chapel dates back to the 15th century but was demolished in 1904 and rebuilt in 1911

St Michaels Mount Marazion

Perhaps one of the most visited landmarks in West Cornwall, St Michael's Mount is 3 miles east of Penzance, access to the island is easy at low tide when the granite causeway is opened for pedestrian crossings, there are ferry boat services running at high tide during the summer.

Smartie at Hayle

Out and about on a summer's evening we couldn't resist a picture of the "Company car", this picture is taken at Hayle.

Porthmeor Beach Cafe

How about a romantic dinner at the Porthmeor Beach Cafe ?

Sunrise from Carbis Beach Apartments

You've got to up early in the summer to catch this - 5.30am, but well worthwhile. This was taken from the decking at Carbis Beach Apartments and the view from the master bedroom, what a start to the day !.
