You can catch the train from Carbis Bay, but the walk along the coastal footpath to Porthminster Beach is a must any time of the year. Porthminster beach is sheltered with safe bathing. There is a great quality restaurant on the beach, the world renowned Porthminster Cafe (click here) and is currently featured on Discovery Travel and Living Channel (July). If you drive into St Ives there is a good car parking near the rail station, but very popular in season. Look out for the Barbara Hepworth scultures at the Malakoff.
