200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, Penzance Harbour. Following the Battle of Trafalgar (21st October 1805), Britain ruled the waves for over 200 years. The first mainland contact is rumoured to have been Penzance when HMS Pickle, bearing news of the death of Admiral Nelson and the victor at Trafalgar, were passed to a fishing boat in Mounts Bay. The news was quickly brought ashore and announced at the Union Hotel in Chapel Street. Relive those moments over Trafalgar weekend when Penzance will be remembering this occasion. Join us where it happened and on the days it happened 200 years ago.
