Living Area

An upholstered red leather suite and black design chair and stool nicely contrast the neutral theme of the décor in the living area which is open plan to the kitchen.  There is a 42" LCD TV with Sky HD, a DVD player, Bose iPod dock, complimentary WiFi and XBox 360 to keep all the family entertained, whatever the weather.  A selection of books, board games and DVD's are also available

A welcome manual in the apartment provides a wealth of information about St. Ives and West Cornwall.  A favourite suggestion for the energetic is to explore the southwest coastal path.  This stretches in both directions from St. Ives, taking in the rugged coastline westwards to Zennor and the super sandy coves of Carbis Bay and Porthkidney Sands towards Hayle.  Here a pint of Tribute at The Badger is a must!

Dining Room

The separate dining room comfortably seats four people for you to enjoy the wonderful dishes that an inspired cook can create with local produce and fresh fish harvested from the sea.

If you prefer to dine out, then the acclaimed Porthminster Cafe is just a short walk away. One of the best beach cafés in Cornwall, and a favourite of our guests,' this is not to be missed.  Right on the beach, you have to try it to believe it.  Other recommended eateries in St. Ives are the Seafood Cafe, St Andrew's Bistro, Blas Burgerworks and The AA rosette awarded Alba on the harbour front.  Further afield why not try a leisurely breakfast at Godrevy Cafe in Gwithian or Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" at Watergate Bay?

Kitchen

The kitchen is open plan and beautifully finished with 'Neff' appliances to re-affirm the high quality of this accommodation.  Built seamlessly into the graphite units, there is a microwave, electric hob, oven and dishwasher.  Guests' will find all the modern gadgets and kitchen implements that one would expect from a high specification self catering apartment, including as one would expect: a coffee machine, toaster and kettle.

Building Works

March 2013 – Renovation work has commenced on a building adjacent to Gallinas Point Apartments.  Scaffolding has been erected and extends across the road to the gable wall of Gallinas Point.  Although access cannot be gained across the scaffolding to the apartments, privacy may be compromised in the external areas of apartments Serendipity, Kara and The Penthouse, along with the kitchen side window of Kara and The Penthouse. The roof and chimneys are being taken down from the building and we are advised the scaffolding will then be removed and reinstalled later in the year.  We will continue to monitor the works and will up-date the website with any changes as soon as we are aware.

June 2013 – Works continue on the building with most work taking place to the seward side of the building.  Steel work is now going into support the roof.

Guest Comments

"We had a great holiday in Kara the location was ideal, St Ives is a very charming town with the narrow streets and the beatiful harbor. To friends who would like to visit Cornwall, I'll gladly recommend to stay in St Ives and Gallinas point. There are several good restaurants like Alba (seafood), we visited. Land's End, Minack Theatre, St Michael's Mount, Tintagel, Port Isaac and others."

"We had a fantastic stay at Kara and the whole family were very impressed with the quality of everything in the apartment. The cream tea and fridge bits and bobs were a nice welcome. The kids and myself made very good use of the Xbox in the mornings which was a great touch. The apartment met all our needs and we found its proximity to St Ives town and the beaches perfect. We are no strangers to St Ives, but our stay with you was really special and that was mainly down to the superb accomodation."

"The apartment ( Kara) was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean and the views lovely from the balcony. We have been coming to St Ives now for a number of years and this apartment is in a very favourable location within easy walking of the town centre. This year we particularly liked the Seafood Cafe on Fore Street and The Ocean Grill on the Wharf Road. The Tate is always very good for lunch with spectacular views. The Fish and Chip cafe on The Wharf Road is excellent also as is the beach cafe at Godrevy Point . The piece de resistance however is eating locally purchased pasties on the Wharf looking out across the Harbour views and generally watching the world go by. For a shortish walk, park at the National Trust car park and Beach Cafe near Godrevy Point and walk along the cliff past the Light House to see the Seals basking in the cove ( counted up to 50 this year) also you can always see Kestrels hovering along the cliff tops, a beautiful walk."

"We had a really great week in Kara. It is the second time we have stayed there in 5 months. The TV size and Sky HD+ package, together with the most comfy master bedroom bed, make it a place we plan to return to as often as possible! The fixtures and fittings and cleanliness are both 5 star too. These things are all especially important out of season, when you are likely to spend more time in your accommodation. Where else in England but West Cornwall could you take a wonderful stroll on the sand in the middle of February?! We did at Godrevy. There is a super little cafe in the car park there too. If you want the best breakfast/brunch in St Ives look no further than the Cornish Deli in Chapel Street. All in all, we voted the week 10 out of 10 on the drive home! "

"Kara is a well-appointed apartment and is in a good location for St Ives and Porthminster Beech.  St Ives is a beautiful holiday destination, enjoyed by my whole family. St Ives is the jewel but we also enjoyed Marazion. The food at Alba, The Mermaid and, in particular, The Waves was very good."

M. Harvey

"Had an excellent week in St Ives staying in the Kara apartment. The apartment was excellent and the booking process worked flawlessly. The location was perfect for touring the region from Padstow down to the Lizard. Porthcurno beach on a sunny day is as good as any Californian beach and the theatre and telegraph museum are definitely worth a visit. Eden project was far better than I imagined it would be. The planting has matured and was at its best in July."

"We had a fabulous holiday. The apartment was ideally located being just a short walk into st Ives centre and yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The standard of the apartment was fabulous. It had most creature comforts. The secure parking was such a bonus so you didn't have to worry about where to park!"

"I have to say the apartment itself was beautiful with the level of cleanliness exceptional and it was so comfortable - it far exceeded our expectations - a real 'home-from-home'.    The standard throughout the apartment was exceptionally high with the furnishings and fittings all excellent quality.  The bed was absolutely blissful and we both slept like logs."
