Carbis Bay

With its golden sands and turquoise sea, Carbis Bay is recognised as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.  It is often selected as the perfect base for those wanting to relax and get away from it all but have the convenience of being just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of St. Ives.  With its Blue Flag accredited beach, Carbis Bay is a popular choice for a luxury self-catering holiday with many of our special escapes boasting dramatic sea views. The coastal railway links St Ives to Penzance and is perhaps one of the most scenic rail journeys in the UK.  The rail journey from Carbis Bay to St Ives takes about 4 minutes. It also connects to St Erth and Penzance to mainline UK stations including Paddington, London.

Guest Comments

"Ocean Breezes was very nice and as expected, we particularly enjoyed the Minack Theatre, Levant Mine and Trelissick Garden, and walking along the coast in both directions from Carbis Bay was also good (walked into St. Ives several times!). Foodwise the best meal we had was at the Gurnard's Head pub/restaurant - a bit out of the way but absolutely worth the trip - and the Seafood Cafe and Becks fish and chips also lived up to other people's recommendations of them."

"Carbis Bay is a very beautiful location, indeed, it is as good as the best Australian beaches with it’s lovely clean sand and water. The location of the apartment was splendid, with the train and beach a quick walk away.  We enjoyed visiting St Ives regularly, and were fortunate to hear a choir perform there. One of our most enjoyable walks was along the coastal path to Lelant.  Another highlight was visiting Truro and the Trelissick Gardens. Eating out at Carbis Bay Hotel, with its wonderful views of the sky at sunset was another highlight for us."

"Accommodation was a good standard , very convenient for the train to St.Ives and the beach. We enjoyed the day we had at Mousehole as this was a bit of a suntrap after the windy conditions on the beach. We also enjoyed our day at Geevor mine."

"We enjoyed our stay in Carbis bay, it's an absolutely magnificent  place. The ocean, the beach, a comfortable apartment - what else would one require to relax? We loved our stay and would definitely come back on another occasion."

"We had a very relaxing holiday and certainly picked the best week for weather rather that this week it seems. The apartment was all we expected and more, it was like staying in a "show home". As for getting out and about the walks and the train as described in the welcome book were used to great effect and we only took the car out twice."

"We enjoyed our holiday very much thank you, Ocean Breezes was clean & to a very high standard everything we needed was provided. The apartment was situated well as it was nice & quite & it was very good that the train station was so close,we did use the train once to get back from St. Ives but we did prefer to walk the costal path into St.Ives.Carbis bay beach was very convinient as it was in walking distance from the apartment. We did do the other costal walk to Hayle & the costal walk from Lands End to Sennen Cove was very nice to do aswell & if you like the beach then Porthcurno Beach is a must.Cafe Coast restaurant in St Ives is a nice place to eat & lovely atmosphere at night but do book as they do get busy. We would definately come & stay in Ocean Breezes apartment again & we were very pleased with the service provided."

"Ocean Breezes really is the last word in luxury and truly deserves it's 5 stars.  We wanted to explore St.Ives and while we knew there was a train service we were over the moon that Carbis Bay station was right outside our front door. £2 return each and 5 minutes ride.  We can heartily recommend the Union pub and the Sloop Inn for good food and drink"

"We both had a wonderful time staying in Ocean Breezes! The apartment, location and weather were fantastic!  it was a lovely stay, in fact I chose a moment on the early morning deserted beach to ask Marianne to marry me so we will always have fond memories of our stay! I recommend the coastal and field walks to Zennor and the Tinners Arms. Our favourite day out was to visit St Michaels Mount and the Minack Ttheatre, we then walked from Lands End, great walk  - poor tourist trap"

We were very pleased with the standard and cleanliness of the apartment.  It was in a lovely location within easy access to local walks and the railway station. We used the trains quite a lot as it was so quick and easy to get into St Ives where I think parking would have been quite difficult at this time of the year.  We enjoyed meals at the Firehouse, Porthminster Cafe and St Michael's Bistro.  We also enjoyed several coastal walks from Carbis Bay to St Ives and back several times and once from Carbis Bay along the beach to Hayle and then back along the main road.

"The apartment was lovely and very comfortable.  The standard more than met my expectations, and as usual (with Carbis Bay Holidays) the decor was fab."
