Carbis Bay

With its golden sands and turquoise sea, Carbis Bay is recognised as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.  It is often selected as the perfect base for those wanting to relax and get away from it all but have the convenience of being just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of St. Ives.  With its Blue Flag accredited beach, Carbis Bay is a popular choice for a luxury self-catering holiday with many of our special escapes boasting dramatic sea views. The coastal railway links St Ives to Penzance and is perhaps one of the most scenic rail journeys in the UK.  The rail journey from Carbis Bay to St Ives takes about 4 minutes. It also connects to St Erth and Penzance to mainline UK stations including Paddington, London.

Guest Comments

"We were delighted with the standard of accommodation: clean and well equipped with a very polite and attentive & helpful person on arrival. The cream tea was a particularly welcome treat!  Overall, i thought the whole experience from start to finish was excellent and one i will both use again myself and recommend to friends."

We did the walk to Lelant as recommended and whilst a lovely walk, it was a lot more than a “leisurely trek” along the coast path. A fit family of 4 took much longer than we were led to believe from the apartment brochure and the pub at the end was not great! As for restaurants, the Porthminster Beach Cafe was very good especially for all things fish – the scallops are worthy of note here. And finally, we all agreed we had the best burger we’ve ever had at Blas! That was fantastic. Great food, very friendly atmosphere & service and very reasonable! I only wish we’d gone earlier in the week!

In short, a fantastic week and we’ll be back!

"As always a great time at Volante, it's location is one of the best . In the seven years we have been coming to Carbis Bay we have always enjoyed the great beaches, restaurants, and Paradise Park....there is so much to do with two kids under 10. Kynance Cove- a stunning beach....but you need to see at low and high tide...a must. Porthcurno beach - amazing....but wait for low tide to allow you an hour walk onto the adjacent beaches. A must is the Minack Theatre morning show for kids. Typically twice a week, but a great chance to see this awesome venue, and hopefully see Squashbox Theatre Company - a brilliant show for young and old......totally recommended....get there early."

"We had a terrific stay at Volante it had everything we needed and the view is amazing.
We took up the recommendations for restaurants, which helped us to fine dine at Seagrass and Al Fresco. The help with finding a babysitter, Leigh, was also very handy.   St Ives Swimming Pool is great for babies; the PlayZone is good if you need to exhaust your children and get out of the house; Newquay Aquarium is worth a visit in bad weather,  Paradise Bird park was highly recommended need to make a day of it.  The cafe overlooking Portmeor beach."

"The four of us were very impressed with the apartment which was immaculate.  Plenty of space, quality furniture and fittings and of course wonderful views over Carbis Bay Beach.  Everything went like clockwork with no complaints whatsoever. We had dinner at the Porthminster Beach Restaurant, Alfresco Restaurant and the Carbis Bay Hotel.  All were excellent - food, wine and ambience.  We did dine in one evening on Cornish Pasties we had bought from Philps in Hayle following a recommendation from a couple of staff at M & S there!  The 'Oggies' were superb. We visited the Eden Project, Porthcurno Telegraph Museum, the Minnack Theatre nearby and the Maritime Museum at Falmouth.  Of course we spent time walking around St Ives using the train rather than the car or taxis to travel there from Volante.  We did walk on the Coastal Path on one occasion from Carbis Bay to St Ives - a most pleasant walk once we had got over the steep climb at the beginning."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and the fantastic views from the deck at all times. The apartment is quiet and with the sound of the sea it is really relaxing. The attention to detail in the apartment is wonderful with everything you could need from ducks in the bath, a champagne bucket to a pizza cutter. Sometimes after a holiday I am glad to go home but I could have easily stayed a lot longer as everything was so clean, tasteful, luxurious etc - its a real home from home."

P. McVeigh, Devon

"Volante was fabulous, we couldn't fault one thing with the apartment, and everything about it was just fantastic.  Very luxury bathrooms, the beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything one needed, and the view was amazing...We took my disabled mum, and the apartment was ideal for a disabled person, who uses walking frames and a wheelchair."

M. Hough, Staffordshire

"We really enjoyed our stay at Volante - the standard of accommodation and cleanliness of the property was excellent.  It was also good to have someone to greet you on arrival (a lot of other companies don't do this) and the pint of milk was very much appreciated!  The location was perfect, with lovely views and an easy trip into St Ives on the train."

A. Roderick, Exeter
