Train in Carbis Bay
/category_images_new/medium/2447.jpg
Carbis Bay, Lelant and St Ives are so well placed that you don't need a car to enjoy what the area has to offer. Public transport links are excellent and there are some superb taxi services locally. Where possible we do recommend avoiding parking in St Ives during peak season. If you are staying in Carbis Bay or Lelant and fancy a visit into St Ives, hop on the scenic rail line. A green option is The Park and Ride at Lelant Saltings.

If you are staying in St Ives, you will have the luxury of your very own allocated parking space with all the amenities nearby.
See our Discover Cornwall pages for plenty of ideas of things to do and if you are looking to keep you carbon footprint to a minimum, then consider leaving the car at your holiday home.
Train
The St Ives Branch Line is notably the most scenic train ride in Britain. It starts at St Erth on the Cornish Main Line and travels alongside the estuary of the River Hayle before reaching the Atlantic Ocean. Here, this single track line hugs the coastline taking in Lelant Saltings and the stunning beaches of Carbis Bay and Porthminster.
This train service runs throughout the year and is favoured by many of our guests as one of the best ways to travel in between Carbis Bay and St Ives. This trip should be taken at least once on your holiday for the experience, if not for the convenience of leaving your car behind.
A 'Day Ranger' ticket costs from £2.00 per person and can be used all day on the St Ives Bay Railway.
