Carbis Bay Holidays :: Getting Here

The South West of Cornwall is readily accessible, by car, by air or by train. For road journeys, use the maps against each property to plan your route. There are frequent UK and international flights into Newquay airport which is about 45 minutes drive away. Either arrange for a taxi or hire a car from the airport.

The single track rail link to Lelant, Carbis Bay and St Ives links with St Erth, Penzance and mainline routes to Paddington London. Some of our properties are just a short walk from the train stations, check the location map for each.

The Cornish Riviera Sleeper also runs from London to Penzance and provides a stress free option for holiday travel. Arriving refreshed after your overnight travel to St Ives at around 8.30am, you will have to kill a little time before gaining access to your holiday property, but there are plenty of places to relax.

By Road

Road links to West Cornwall have been recently modernised and additional lanes on the A30 have sped up the journey.

From the Midlands and Bristol take the M5 to Exeter. Exit at junction 31 and follow signs to Launceston, Redruth and Penzance via the A30. At Loggans Roundabout take the A30 towards Penzance and at the next roundabout turn right towards St Ives and Carbis Bay along the A3074.

Consider stopping off at Kingsley Services at St Colmb, Cornwall for a break along the A30. They have a great farm shop for stocking up en-route.

By Train

Both Carbis Bay and St Ives are easily accessible by train. There are a number of properties close to the stations at each, some within walking distance, check the location map against each.

The St Ives Branch line is perhaps one of the most scenic in the UK so perhaps experience it at least once on your holiday and combine it with a walk to Carbis Bay or Lelant.

The London Paddington train also stops just before Penzance at St Erth, where you can change to reach St Ives.

The Cornish Riviera Sleeper Train from Paddington, London
The Sleeper train departs from London Paddington at 23:45 and arrives in Penzance at 08:00 the following morning.

The Sleeper train departs from Penzance at 21:35 and arrives in London Paddington at 05:41 the following morning.

Please note: On Sundays this service departs Penzance at 21:15 and from London at 23:50.

By Air

Newquay Cornwall Airport is served by a number of operators providing a very flexible and convenient link to what was once a quite remote part of the UK. Many of our guests find it easy to fly in from London, Manchester, Beflast and Glasgow amongst other locations. It is then really easy to pick up a hire car or take a taxi to your holiday home where we will meet you with keys on your arrival.

Car Hire

Guests arriving by plane or bus or train may wish to hire a car for the duration of their stay. To make your trip extra special consider a classic car.

St Ives Car Hire also offer a great service and are a locally based company. They will happily meet you on arrival with your chosen vehicle, or you can drop in at their offices on St Ives Road.
