A short circular walk takes you past the lighthouse and along the cliff tops. On the way back, the beach cafe at Gwithian is worth a visit, the beach itself is renowned for it\u2019s surfing and kite- sand yachting \u2013 its another mile to Hayle over the \u201cRed River\u201d and along the beach past the Towans<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the grey seals from Navax Point in the \u201cfishing cove\u201d 250 feet below the grassy headland, and the area is an important site for cormorants, razerbills and oyster catchers \u2013 even wild ponies. Virginia Woolfe was inspired to write \u201cTo the Lighthouse\u201d.
