And, with our guide to the best dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall, there\u2019s no need to leave your furry pals behind on your next trip to the county.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are some seasonal bans imposed on many of the larger beaches, but with hidden coves, quiet stretches of sand and secret shorelines, there\u2019s still an array of dog friendly beaches in Cornwall that permit dogs all year round.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cornwall\u2019s seasonal bans are usually enforced between <strong>10am<\/strong><\/span><b> and 6pm from the 1st of July to the 31st of August<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on selected beaches, however, some beaches have longer bans which are enforced <\/span><b>between<\/b> <b>10am and 6pm from<\/b> <b>15th of May to the 30th of September<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The stretch of stunning sands south of Gwithian Towans out to the Black Cliffs along the Hayle Riviera welcomes dogs across three miles of open golden sands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or for unspoilt beaches try a day out with your pup at Peter\u2019s Point, Upton Towans and Mexico Towans. Linked by a coastal path that winds across windswept sand dunes, expect oodles of space and beautifully sublime surroundings as you look out over the renowned Godrevy Lighthouse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Head across the river, and you\u2019ll find Porthkidney Beach nestled between the Hayle Estuary and Hawke\u2019s Point, just a brief coastal walk or drive from Carbis Bay. Offering a wide expanse of north-facing sands, it\u2019s easy to see how artist John Miller found his muse amongst such soul-stirring seascapes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59105\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carbisbayholidays.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/08\/CBH-dog-friendly-beaches-in-cornwall-family-with-dog-on-beach-1.jpg\" alt=\"family with dog on beach in cornwall\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dog-friendly beaches in West Cornwall\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond the \u2018secret\u2019 Bamaluz Beach (that only reveals itself at low tide) between St Ives Harbour and Porthgwidden Beach, holidayers can head further west for more dog friendly beaches in Cornwall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Past wild moorlands and craggy cliff lines, Portheras Cove provides a wonderfully secluded spot between Morvah and Pendeen, while Priest\u2019s Cove at Cape Cornwall presents a picturesque, end-of-the-world locale, perfect for a picnic or barbecue flanked by spellbinding sunsets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similarly striking, Gwenver Beach near Land\u2019s End offers not just a surfer\u2019s paradise, but dog owner\u2019s dream. While it\u2019s not the most accessible beach, Sennen Cove\u2019s concealed neighbour is well worth the cliff-hugging walk down, providing the type of tranquil, rugged charm usually reserved for exclusive island escapes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along the western Atlantic edge at Lands End, you\u2019ll discover a captivating collection of exotic-looking coves, including the crystalline waters of Nanjizel and the wildly romantic Pedn Vounder at Porthcurno just past the legendary Minack Theatre. Though it\u2019s best to seek the advice of locals and Lifeguards on the best access routes for this tidal beach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venture further westward toward Penzance and you\u2019ll find Roskilly Beach, comprised of a scenic rocky outcrop under the cliff road between Mousehole and Newlyn. Newlyn itself is home to the pebbly and dog-friendly shores of Wherrytown Beach by Newlyn Art Gallery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The softly curving Mounts Bay sweeps from Newlyn past Marazion, home to the iconic St Michael\u2019s Mount along with the dog welcoming Penzance Promenade beaches (tide dependent) and the sandy shallows of Long Rock Beach.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59106\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carbisbayholidays.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/08\/CBH-dog-friendly-beaches-in-cornwall-labrador-on-beach-1.jpg\" alt=\"dog on sandy beach in Cornwall\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dog-friendly beaches on Cornwall\u2019s South coast<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travel further eastward to the south coast of Cornwall and you\u2019ll uncover a world of wave-lashed coves, exposed headlands and meandering pathways. Head just beyond Marazion and you\u2019ll uncover the delights of Prussia Cove, where the gorgeously jagged landscape offers everything from sheltered shores to fields of wildflowers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The West Cornwall coastline continues east toward Porthleven, where Loe Bar Beach &#8211; complete with Cornwall\u2019s largest natural freshwater lake &#8211; permits dogs to freely roam, steer clear of the water here though as it\u2019s unsafe for swimming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The county\u2019s most southerly and uber pretty point is The Lizard peninsula, which provides a selection of dog-friendly locations including the magnificent Mullion Cove, Polpoer Cove and Pentreath.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59104\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carbisbayholidays.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/08\/CBH-dog-friendly-beaches-in-cornwall-dogs-on-beach-at-sunset-1.jpg\" alt=\"couple on beach at sunset walking dogs\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If beaches aren\u2019t your thing, then there are plenty of other wonderful activities and dog-friendly days out in Cornwall from historic houses to gorgeous gardens and wonderful walks.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dog-friendly gardens in Cornwall<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even the Eden Project has recently opened its doors to dogs, proving that Cornwall\u2019s gardens aren\u2019t just for green-fingered visitors and families. Home to extensive woodland and park trails nudging the River Fal,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/trelissick\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trelissick Garden<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, near Truro, tops our list of garden dog-friendly days out. However, closer to home we like to visit<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/trengwainton-garden\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trengwainton<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, near Penzance, a National Trust property replete with picnic meadows, a stream garden and paths wending through exotic plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also close to Penzance is<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tremenheere.co.uk\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with its wonderful mix of wide-open spaces, woodland, sub-tropical plants and art installations inspired by nature. Explore beneath towering canopies, climb grassy knolls to witness stunning views over Mounts Bay, and tuck into homemade cakes and Cornish produce at the Lime Tree Caf\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Walks with dog-friendly pit stops<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nothing beats an invigorating stroll in the woods or on the coast, stopping to refuel during a dog-friendly day out in a pub or caf\u00e9. Our favourite coast path walk, if you\u2019re up for a serious workout, is the six-mile stretch from St Ives to Zennor. Once you reach the 13th-century<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tinnersarms.com\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tinner\u2019s Arms,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tucked behind the wild, azure seascape that inspired the legend of the mermaid of Zennor, you\u2019ll have earned a rest by the fire or outside overlooking the wild, shaggy moors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a more sheltered, shorter walk, we love<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornwall.gov.uk\/parks-leisure-and-culture\/parks-and-open-spaces\/country-parks\/tehidy-country-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tehidy Country Park<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall. Its 9 miles of well-marked trails are the perfect place to walk energetic dogs in every season, and there\u2019s a lakeside caf\u00e9 serving cakes and snacks.
