“We had a wonderful stay at Gwinear.”

The apartment is beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished. The beds are comfortable with blackout blinds in both bedrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed. There was even a little bit of milk, dishwasher tablets, laundry pods and toilet paper on arrival. The only suggestion would be to leave a little soap in the bathrooms and to have an empty cupboard in the kitchen to store groceries. We have stayed at a few of the other apartments in these buildings, and this was by far the most ...

“: Excellent position beside the station especially for visitors without transport.”

Bed very comfortable. Needs some TLC.Cleaning was poor. En-suite shower very small, difficult to bend down. Water didn't drain away and fearful water would run over rim of tray. Sealant and grouting around bottom of shower was filthy.Balcony mucky with weeds growing and uncomfortable chairs.Cushions on settee and armchairs were filled with feathers, miserable for people with allergies.Underneath of armchair seat pads dirty, didn't appear to have ever been cleaned. Apartment not up to 4 star standard.Not to standard of CARBIS BAY HOLIDAYS when we have visited previously.

Sehr gut ausgestattet, sehr sauber, tolle Lage, Parkplatz vorhanden. Kurzer Weg zum Strand und zu dem kleinen Bahnhof. Wir haben uns 2 Wochen (bei tollem Wetter) sehr wohl gefühlt.

“This property was lovely or so we thought at first .”

It was clean , well equipped ( although there was no bath plug , this was put right ) and well situated with beautiful views of Carbis Bay . All good , you might think . That is until you factor in the people and very large german shepherd dog permanently living in flat 10 directly below the flat 11 holiday let. Front the first evening we were forced to listen to their televisions on so loudly that we could not hear ourselves speak - seriously and this went on every day and night . Next came 6/6.30 am repeated door slammings over and over . Then during the evenings we had a nice little game lasting over an hour at a time called - bounce a tennis ball or similar on the laminate flooring throughout their flat OVER AND OVER AND OVER for the very boisterous , very large german shepherd dog . We had NO PEACE what so ever whilst we stayed in this property which was not a cheap holiday let by any means and had a completely ruined break that we had looked forward to and needed for a long time . There is absolutely no way that the owner of Gwinear ( flat 11) does not know about this and we would never have rented this holiday let had we had any inkling of what waited for us . We want to ask Sykes and the owner for a refund for our ruined Christmas break . Please get back in touch with us asap . Mrs Heather Saunders

“A lovely apartment.”

Nice and clean. Cosy and warm when need be. Super views. It would be nice if there were black out curtains instead of a blind in the bedroom. Don't know why the building is floodlit. Could a small carton of milk be left in the fridge? We had a very long journey, 11 hours! So needed a coffee.

“Ideal location right next to Carbis Bay Train station.”

popped into St Ives a few times, just as well as the streets are not car friendly and parking is limited. Excellent views from the apartment over Carbis Bay. A smart, reasonably sized apartment in a quiet area. The goodies left by Carbis Bay Holidays were a nice touch. Apologies for not leaving a comment in the Visitor's Book as I did not have a pen. The weather was overcast and misty for the first couple of days but was brighter for the rest of the week. Great weather for October, to be fair. I will definitely consider returning to Carbis Bay again, an excellent base for exploring the area.

“The property provided a good base to explore some of Cornwall.”

It would, however, have been good to know about the building works that were going on outside the property as it was noisy and disruptive on occasions. Had we known about the works, we may not have booked that particular property. There was also an outside light that stayed on all night and shone quite brightly into the property which was a little annoying when trying to get the children off to sleep.

“The facilities in the apartment were good quality.”

It was a shame that the cleaning upon arrival was fairly poor and we had to clean the kitchen, chairs and floors ourselves. Great location, right next the the station, coastal path to St Ives and a short walk to the beach. Ideal for anyone wanting to be in the centre of Carbis Bay, but need to be fairly mobile due to local hills and a few steps up to the apartment.

“Another lovely stay in Gwinear.”

Great location and apartment has everything we needed, unfortunately the apartment wasn’t as clean as last year, the floors seemed dirty and the windows had handprints and marks on them. Also there was no mention of the building work that would be going on. We were woken up every morning before 8 by noisy diggers and builders. Such a shame!

“There was a large scale construction project happening directly in front of the apartment so we got to wake up to the sound of heavy machinery, beeping and hammering every morning.”

Also we both noticed after a few days how dirty our socks were going into the wash, the windows in the living room were covered in hand marks. The TV service kept getting interrupted every few minutes making it impossible to watch anything.

It is in a very convenient location being close to Carbis Bay beach and the coastal path to St Ives one way and Hayle the other way. The train offers transport both ways too at a very reasonable cost and provides excellent service with trains running every half hour. The apartment had everything we needed. It was light an airy with views of the coast. Riveria apartments are about 35 years old but the accommodation had recently been modernised and had parking which is a real bonus."

Hallway You enter Gwinear through your own front door into a spacious hallway that allows access to all the other areas of this bright apartment. There is a useful cupboard for hanging coats and placing walking shoes or wellies after an energetic day exploring the beautiful beach and coastline on your doorstep. KItchen Kitchen The spacious kitchen is located to the side of the property with a large window above the sink with a beautiful view of St Ives across the bay. Sleeping Bedroom One with Ensuite This large bedroom has a large bay window with fantastic views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy and is bright and fresh. The super king zip and link bed can be arranged as twin single beds bed upon request is sumptuously made with crisp white Egyptian cotton linens and leather effect headboard. There is a large fitted wardrobe, an oak chest of drawers, two oak bedside cabinets with lamps and a vanity table with full length mirror. For your entertainment you can watch television on the 32" LCD TV or simply lie back and gaze out of the window to the boats bobbing on the azure seas of St Ives Bay. You can lay in bed and watch the sun rise, or if you prefer and to ensure a good nights sleep the curtains have blackout lining. Bedroom Two Bedroom 2 is decorated with a blue and white nautical theme, the twin single beds can be arranged as a zip and link super king bed on upon request. The second bedroom has a lovely view of the north Cornish coast across St Ives Bay. Just a short drive from iconic St Ives, the seaside village of Carbis Bay is best-known for its beautiful stretch of pure white sand. With turquoise waters and sheltered conditions, the beach feels almost subtropical and is the perfect spot for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The beach is also home to the Ocean Sports Centre, so if sunbathing is not really your thing, why not hire a kayak or SUP and get out on the water instead. Or why not treat yourself to a Spa day at the delightful hotel which overlooks the beach and has a fabulous terrace where cocktails can be enjoyed in the Cornish sunshine? Carbis Bay has a small range of local shops and restaurants as well as a fish & chip takeaway and railway branch line.
