    “The apartment is in a lovely location, was clean and easy to access.”

    The boiler was not working so there was no heating or hot water, this was due to low pressure suggesting the heating had not been used for months and is clearly not checked prior to check ins. There was no gas coming through to the oven so that was not usable until a gas engineer was sent out to fix it. Sadly there was a lot of building work going on around the apartment while I was staying. Including in the house opposite and the apartment next door which made spending time indoors from 8-4pm ...

Including in the house opposite and the apartment next door which made spending time indoors from 8-4pm very unpleasant. On complaining about the building work noise Carbis Bay Holidays did nothing to visit the property to understand the problem or help. The owners were advised of these problems but took no responsibility for the issues. I requested a refund to reflect the detriment to the comfort of my stay on 5/7 days (70%) of my stay. I was offered 2% back as a gesture of goodwill, which was totally inadequate. I won't stay in this property again and would avoid other Carbis Bay Holidays properties too.

    Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you found the apartment lovely and clean. We are sorry that you experienced an issue with the boiler during your stay, we can confirm that the owners were in the property just before your arrival date and experienced no issues so it is unlikely to be from lack of use, therefore we have in-formed our property management team in case it is a possible fault with the system. In regard to the gas issue, we have looked into this and are unsure how it could have happened and for this we apologise, but are glad that the engineer that attended was able to rectify this so quickly. Unfortunately, we had not been made aware of any building work that was going to be taking place and we sincerely apologise that this disturbed your stay. Sadly the owners were also not made aware of the building work prior to it starting and therefore we could not add this to the website to inform guests. We do take inconvenience and disturbance to a guest's stay seriously and put any compensation requests to the owners and in your case the owners authorised a 2% good-will gesture to be returned to you. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with this refund offered, however we hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Living Area Entrance Hallway Upon entering Ocean Cove you are greeted into a spacious hallway and the jaw dropping view of the ocean and Carbis Bay through the feature porthole window which fills the hallway with natural light. The hallway is carpeted throughout, as are all the living areas and bedrooms. The hallway cupboard houses an ironing board, iron, etc and provides an area to store your shoes and coats. There is a sideboard under the stairs where you will find a selection of board games, books and local guides. A cloakroom with WC and wash basin can be found next to bedroom three. Living Area The open plan living and dining area is a beautiful bright and airy room with magnificent panoramic views across Carbis Bay Beach and St Ives Bay. Floor to ceiling patio doors open out onto a small balcony, perfect for allowing the fresh salty sea air to flow in whilst you are sat on the swivel chair which is impeccably positioned for watching the comings and goings in the bay. This is an ideal place to spot seals and dolphins that visit the bay and a quality pair of binoculars are provided for you to get a closer view. Sit back on the comfortable four-seater sofa and take in the fabulous views through the large picture window or alternatively, why not take advantage of the amazing entertainment package consisting of a 44” Logic LCD television with Sky package including Kids, Playstation 3 with a selection DVDs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Dining Area The dining area is positioned perfectly for enjoying the ocean views through the patio doors and for socialising with those in the kitchen through the large serving hatch – which also provides an ocean view for the chef! A selection of CDs and books can be found, along with a "Welcome Book" packed with information about St Ives and other popular Cornish attractions in the hall cabinet. Should you decide to eat out during your stay, why not hop on the coastal train into St Ives where you will be spoilt for choice with the fabulous selection of restaurants? Kitchen The kitchen at Ocean Cove is located off the entrance hallway next to the open plan living area. Ample storage can be found within the fitted cupboards along with plentiful preparation space on the black granite work tops. A large service hatch allows you to enjoy the fabulous ocean views whilst cooking and to socialise with those in the living area. There is also direct access onto the large rear suntrap terrace, perfect for alfresco dining. The kitchen is equipped with high quality brands, such as Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Neff, Panasonic, Kenwood, Prestige and Royal Doulton. There is a double oven/grill, ceramic hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, combination microwave and a wonderful selection of utensils, glassware and an extensive range of crockery. For those who enjoy cooking on holiday, you will find the shelf of cookery books very useful. Just a short drive from iconic St Ives, the seaside village of Carbis Bay is best-known for its beautiful stretch of pure white sand. With turquoise waters and sheltered conditions, the beach feels almost subtropical and is the perfect spot for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The beach is also home to the Ocean Sports Centre, so if sunbathing is not really your thing, why not hire a kayak or SUP and get out on the water instead. Or why not treat yourself to a Spa day at the delightful hotel which overlooks the beach and has a fabulous terrace where cocktails can be enjoyed in the Cornish sunshine? Carbis Bay has a small range of local shops and restaurants as well as a fish & chip takeaway and railway branch line. Building Work Notice - Planned for Early 2023
This work on the development is for external redecoration of the seaward side of the building including replacement of the metal corners, bellcasts and render beading with plastic, and making good, replacement of gutters and downpipes and repainting. The period it is due to cover is 1st February to 30th April 2023 but this may change due to weather or availability of trades and materials so please bear in mind when booking your stay.
