“Fantastic location, with great parking for two big cars, great views, short walk to a fabulous beach, great kitchen, big lounge and dinning area, shop , chip shop and pub two minutes walk away.”

Property needs new bathroom door, shower doesnt drain very well, hob extractor fan is dangerous ( too big, to low sharp corners) alley way next to hotel is very scruffy and full of rubbish, bedrooms look tired and not up to the standard of the rest of the accommodation, but overall we enjoyed our weeks stay there 3 Adults and 3 children.

Kitchen is well equipped. Beds are very hard, we slept on top of the duvets, so we were able to sleep. Shower struggled to drain, cobwebs around the house when we arrived. The house is a perfect location and has everything you need.

“Fantastic position, good parking, when we walked into the property the tv was on so it was turned off using a remote that had the batteries held in place with a sticking plaster.”

On walking round the property it has a very nice kitchen with everything you need, however in the rest of the property the door handles are rusty and old, there were cobwebs in the lounge area along with curtains that had broken hooks hanging off, the is a crack in the ceiling in the hallway, there are no locks on the windows in the "leanto" at the front of the property, there was bird muck on a couple of the windows, the furniture through out the property is cheap, the bedroom carpets are wafer thin, in the shower room the shower was very poor and if you are a "larger" person probably no good for you, in the second toilet room I filled the sink for a shave to find that the sink had lots of "black bits" that had come out of the tap in it. Outside the property the guttering if filthy and requires a good clean as does the patio, the "pub table" available to sit at was dirty and requires a clean up, my wife and myself had to use two chairs we had taken as we are in our 60's and sitting without back support is alright if your a lot younger, especially when next door has cushioned furniture. This place could be a fantastic place to visit, if the property was upgraded we would have no hesitation in revisiting however as it stands we are not interested in revisiting this property, it requires some serious TLC.

“A super property.”

We did have a slight problem, which we had to leave a 'whatsapp' message' with Sykes. They said they would get local agent to contact us. They never did. There is no local contact should there be a problem. Also a review of emptying the waste bins by the council. The bins were full on our arrival. They were never emptied, so we had to leave our rubbish in bags in the porch. We should be able to contact a local agent. However do not let these remarks put you off of this super property.

“Our stay at Treleigh was nothing short of amazing.”

On entering the property I don't think I have stayed at a home with such cleanliness. It was spotless. The home had everything available your could wish for. The owners had obviously gone out their way to make it a home from home. Beds were comfy and linen all lovely and clean. The care even extended to the fact we were greeted by scones and Cornish cream, milk, coffee etc What a treat that was after a long drive. The location was second to none! Beachfront with glorious views and walks. Ideal also to explore all the surrounding areas. Parking was easy and convenient. We shall definitely be booking a return in the future. I have nothing but praise. Thank you to the owners. It was all very appreciated.

“Lots of dust everywhere, dirty windows, broken curtain hooks on the floor.”

Smells damp. Needs updating. Bathroom door was broken and didn't fully close. Garden furniture also broken and could benefit from the same furniture as next door and not a picnic bench. However, the views are to die for and location was amazing. Would definitely stay again. The bedding was great quality and the kitchen well equipped. Very quiet too. Having so much parking too was a bonus

“The listing does not do it justice.”

It was amazing. My only one criticism is comfy outdoor furniture would of been the icing on the cake. This holiday cottage had everything you could need. And I mean everything. Have never been to a holiday cottage that is so well equipped. The scones jam clotted cream tea coffee milk was extremely welcoming after a 6 hr drive. Body boards buckets and spades kites games dvds books. Brilliant. House was spotless on arrival. Washing machine dishwasher.A dreamy view. Literally 5 min walk to the most beautiful beach. My 5 yr old grandson cried when we left " I don't want to go home " We had 2 big issues on our week away ( nothing to do with holiday) car and health but it was still the best one. Highly recommend.

“Treleigh was fabulous, great parking right outside, easy access back and front, spacious, very clean, right on the beach, the views were amazing, the whole place was more than we had hoped for!”

! We got there slightly early and the Team hadn’t quite left but they were very friendly and extremely helpful in letting us put a birthday cheesecake straight into the fridge after transporting it over 3 hours!! Very well equipped kitchen, lovely welcome pack, garden was lovely, blankets available, it was all great. A couple of negatives - we couldn’t get the tv working initially, the remote control didn’t appear to be working, so we had to try and do everything from the buttons on the back of the tv, not a huge deal, luckily it’s not something we needed much. Also, the shower room door didn't appear to close properly, it seemed to be off of it’s fixing which meant the door wouldn’t close, couldn’t be locked and there was a half inch or so gap between the door and the frame which was no issue when in the shower as it was set back but not ideal when using the toilet. Having the second separate toilet we were able to work around this but if this was fixed the accommodation would be absolutely perfect. We would all love to stay at Treleigh again, highly recommend.

“We stopped at this property last year for our main holiday.”

We had a few complaints then. But upon arriving to the property this time the shower pulled cord was broken. And the garden was very messy with weeds. We managed to contact the owner who sent and electrician out the next day so we could use the shower and also sent out a gardener to tidy the weeds. But them every time someone would use the shower it kept tripping out at least 2-3times per person and there were 5 of us and that’s a lot of times for the shower to trip out everyday. We also reported it and nothing was done. We stopped for 2 weeks and on the first Tuesday we were invaded by lots of ants. They were coming up from under the house. It was really an exterminators job. Everytime we woke up we had to spend ages cleaning they were on the kitchen sides in the food cupboard even on the fridge crawling all over the food. After coming home after a day out we were cleaning up again. It ruined our holiday. We reported it and was told that the owner would have a word with the cleaners about the ants so we had to deal with the problem all through our holiday. The nest was under the house and the ants were coming up through the kitchen cupboards. I have video evidence of all this. We won’t be stopping here again it’s a shame because it’s in such a good location and has a lovely beach and amazing sunset views. Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay here.

Treleigh is well equipped with everything provided for a comfortable stay, we loved it thank you. The only thing that lets it down is the cheap toilet seats, if these were replaced it would have been 5 star in every respect.

One has a broken lid hinge so that the lid falls off. Surely in such a nice property some decent loo seats could be fitted! The garden would be a great place to sit in the sun but apart from a bench table only couple of very old broken and unusable deckchairs are provided. We were asked to put out the rubbish in the green bin outside but there was no green bin. Everything else about the property was great and we would happily stay again.

“Treleigh is perfect for a base to stay in Hayle.”

Beautiful views, very spacious and very well equipped. Sunsets were amazing and the lights over at Ives on the evening were exceptional. We are definitely going to be using treleigh again in the near future. There were a few downsides though. It looked nice and clean upon arrival and was very impressed. Then on further inspection we noticed there was loads of dust on the blinds, and lots of cobwebs on the ceilings with spiders living in them. We also noticed that certain areas were really dusty like the lamps in the bedrooms and places where you wouldn’t think to clean like in between units. We bought a squidgy for the bio fold windows as there were smears on them. They could also do with a better clip on them because they kept blowing shut almost catching our sons fingers in the door frame. Also the extractor fan on the kitchen was covered in grease and dust on the top this can be a fire hazard. This may sound petty mentioning about all this but I do have a child with a bad dust allergy which can trigger sinusitis so I had to go around and correct everything the cleaner had missed. Some of the pots were dirty and not cleaned so I had to put the dishwasher on straight away. The bedroom with the 2 twins bed in the window handle was very dodgy we decided not to open the window in there for fear of it breaking. The toilet seats were also a problem it pinched our boys legs with it sliding all the time. The beds were so squeaky every time you turned over it made loud squeaky noises so hardly any sleep was had. All the beds were the same. Memory foam toppers would be great as you can feel the springs on your back especially the kids beds they kept waking up with back ache. I would also say new carpets in the bedrooms would be great they had a damp musty smell to them. The gardens were unkept there were lots of weeds. Some of them were at least 5 foot high on the front garden and around the side of the house. Yes the grass had been mowed upon arrival but there were weeds everywhere which was unsightly. We went around and pulled some out but shouldn’t had to. It would not take much for the owner to request weed killer to be put down in problematic areas to prevent the build up of them. The pictures in the advertisement does not reflect the property at all it looked a little run down. I think money needs to be spent on this to get it upto a good standard. This is just constructive criticism that needs to be worked on and looking at previous reviews of treleigh it’s not being taken into account. Especially with the prices charged to stay here we paid over £2000. We did not let these things stopping us from having a blast. 3 mile beach was amazing especially sheep’s dip if you have crazy kids like like jumping in the see them this is the beach for you. I’d also recommend The turnpike inn and The terrace in Hayle. Absolutely amazing food at these places. And if you go ST Ives definitely get a cruffin from the bakery.

“Just come back from another week at this property.”

We as a family love the place and location. Place is well equipped, comfortable beds, only a couple of negatives pretty much same as last years review, toilet seats both need fixing (kept pinching the legs of the children with the movement) and after a long day with the children it would be nice for some comfortable seating or a couple of chairs for outside to take in the lovely view. Bifolds were not cleaned on our arival. Few dirty dishes oven trays. Garden also needs keeping in top of, grass/lots of weeds again although this does not put us off we will seeyou again next year. The whole place is really well layed out, the kitchen is lovely and brilliant it's open plan. The only negatives were the single bed mattresses we a bit springy and could hear every movement, and the bathroom doors arnt very practical. But over all one of the nicest and warmest places we've been. Already booked for next year.

“Spacious house with a stunning view.”

The new kitchen was perfect, with all the mod cons. Books and puzzles to keep us entertained on rainy days. The beach is just a short walk away. But would recommend popping over to the Hayle Surf School at the Beachside holiday park for wetsuit and surfboard hire. Reason for 4 stars and not 5…the bed mattresses could be better and if there is a way to squeeze in another shower somewhere on the property that would be amazing. Would definitely recommend this property and already have

“We enjoyed our stay at Treleigh although we feel the garden is neglected and could be so much nicer.”

When we arrived was shocked at how many large weeds were growing through the patio. Someone did come in the second week to remove them but that should have been done before we arrived. The saucepans and baking trays were dirty, had to be washed before use. I don't think they were checked by cleaners.. Cups were mostly stained so only used the same few that we washed and tablecloth was dirty on side. Think a baby had sat there and wasn't cleaned before we arrived. It's a lovely property and enjoyed the new kitchen and especially the new windows. Could do with some kind of hook on patio door as couldn't leave it open due to wind blowing it shut. So basically lovely place, fabulous views but cleaners need to up their game.

“Just come back from a fantastic week at Treleigh.”

We have been to Hayle Towans many times over the lifetime of our teenagers, and love the area with its amazing beach and stunning sunsets. The house was perfect, total comfort with all mod cons to make the holiday a doddle. The dishwasher was a real treat, as was having two bathrooms (one with a great shower, no slow dribbling here), and being left a bag of ice to start the holiday off with a nice cool drink in the sun was lovely. The bifold doors opened out to let the outside in and that garden with the unbeatable view made this the best place we have stayed in. Thank you, we will definitely be back

“I booked the cottage when it had 4 rooms and wasn't informed about renovations that would turn the fourth bedroom into a kitchen.”

That kitchen is grand, no doubt, but I wouldn't have booked the cottage if I had known that I would have to sleep on the 2-seater sofa for three nights and pay over 900£ for our stay! All bedrooms had a distinct dank smell to them (that is an absolute no-go for holiday homes in that price range) so I guess I was on the luck end of the stay, for the living room was indeed nice. The cottage's location is unbeatably gorgeous, with a magnificent view over the beach and sea. Spacious parking space right in front of the front door. Kitchen well equipped with everything you could need. I still wouldn't come back, unless the bedrooms were renovated and the smell removed.

“We are a family of 8 with two adults and six children between 1 to 9 years old and this seaside bungalow was the perfect base for us to enjoy Hayle and St Ives from.”

It’s close enough to the local holiday park to be able to rely on their little shop but independent enough to not be part of that hustle. The view from the private enclosed garden across the bay to St Ives are phenomenal and you literally step out of the gate onto the towans and the beach. We had a couple of minor issues with broken / loose toilet seats which we reported but never received a response about which was a little disappointing - especially with young children needing to use those facilities - but overall it was a five star experience and we would have loved to come back again next year. Unfortunately, Treleigh is about to undergo an internal reconfiguration and renovation which will see one of the bedrooms removed; which means it will no longer be able to accommodate larger families which is a real shame. That said, I would highly recommend Treleigh to any smaller family groups moving forward. Lasting happy memories for our little people made!

The works to reconfigure Treleigh are underway with a larger kitchen being fitted which will result in a reduced number of beds for 2023. Building should begin winter 2023 to add an extension to the house to give us two additional bedrooms and a family bathroom making us available to a family of 8 once again. We will definitely return. There was always a bit of issue with only bathroom but we managed. The shower was decent but the shower drain needs fixing. A tap outside the property will be helpful to clean the shoes and feet after returning from the beach. Excellent cottage with views to the bay and sunsets.

It will be our third year at Treleigh. The view is absolutely beautiful and we love the area. Its a shame they don't make the most of the garden by having more modern furniture with cushions, so you can spend more time soaking up the view. It's only so long you can sit on a deck chair or the wooden bench. Garden furniture definitely needs updating!

It was great (and rare!) in a property advertised for 8 people actually have enough plates, cutlery and chairs. Excellent. Will be coming back!

“Lovely bungalow in a fantastic location with beautiful views across St Ives Bay.”

Well equipped and spacious bedrooms. Would definitely stay here again but….. When I looked on the website for next year, the price has gone up by £1,300 to a staggering £2,800 for the same week next year! Seems a bit high when compared to similar accommodation. This bungalow also only has a tiny shower room instead of a bathroom. This is a great bungalow at this years price but based on next years price some things need to improve. The fridge had a strange smell and we found old food crumbs on top and dried up milk although this didn’t get rid of the smell so maybe about time the drip tray was cleaned out. The cleaning needs to improve but it’s an outside contractor rather than the owners. It could also do with more outside seating to enjoy the fantastic views. The bungalow sleeps 8 but only had a picnic table outside to seat 6. The bungalow could also do with a rubbish store like other accommodations have and taken away by the cleaners on changeover day if necessary. We turned up to find the wheelie bin already full and had to store rubbish inside until Thursday (bin day). Like I said great bungalow at this years price but the increase on next year cannot be justified. I don’t mind paying a bit extra like next door which has gone up by only £77 but £1,300 increase?

About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
