“The best feature of the property is the location, it’s great for access to the town and beaches, ideal for what we wanted.”

Really good to just walk out and be on a beach in one minute. As it was high season (August) parking was a small issue (we knew it would be). I suggest you won’t find a space in the Island Car Park in high season, and even if you do it’s very tight getting in and out so perhaps best only use it for a quick drop off and collection of luggage while one of you loiter in the car. After luggage drop off we used the Leisure Centre car park, quite a walk there and back, but we only went out in ...

After luggage drop off we used the Leisure Centre car park, quite a walk there and back, but we only went out in the car twice. The upstairs of the property is well laid out with plenty of beds. An ensuite plus a bathroom plus another shower room (no toilet) worked well. As it’s an older property there are a great number of steep and narrow stairs, but we expected that. Nice to have a snug with TV as well as the main living area. The main issue we had was overall maintenance and cleanliness. On arrival we found that under the sofas had not been cleaned, air vents in the bathrooms were full of dust, in the bathrooms around taps and plug holes were not cleaned, the towel rail needs replacing in the bathroom asap as it’s covered in rust, and the kitchen needed more cleaning attention. The back door sticks and needs realigning. The outdoor space is (obviously) very small but I feel adding a small table and chairs would be better and more usable than the small bench that is currently there. We didn’t use the kitchen to cook much, but when opening a large cupboard in the corner (with most of the cooking equipment in) there was a tremendous smell of damp, it is an old property but the cupboards are reasonably new. The damp issue needs sorting out. While it worked ok, the ground floor with the kitchen and living area would work better if reconfigured, a corner sofa would help, and the dining table, chairs and tablecloth need replacing as they are tired. So the property would benefit from some updating and a refresh of some furniture. There is some beach equipment to use, chairs, spades etc which was good. Overall we had a really good week. We would stay in the same area again, but not in this particular property.
