Our experience of trying to contact Sykes was very poor as the phone went unanswered on the several occasions we rang. It was disappointing there was no welcome pack of provisions, ie cream tea, bottle of wine, that we have been used to finding in other 5* rentals in Carbis Bay. The two vouchers for pasties and scones were a poor substitute. There were also very few, or mostly empty/missing cleaning materials - toilet gel, kitchen surface cleaner, and only 5 dishwasher tablets and the milk had only 2 days left on the best before date. If this is 'normal' then this fact should be made clearer on your website which did state we may need to supply extra bin liners, hand wash/sanitizer, washing powder. I would add that these items plus others have always been provided in previous 5* rentals including general sundries such as kitchen foil and cling film. There were just a couple of areas of cleaning that could have been better - there was grime where the kitchen stainless steel sink met the granite work-surface as well as grime around the dishwasher door seal and the oven needed a more thorough clean. Overall, however we were pleased with the apartment and would book again if the cost is competitive with other apartments in the area that go the extra mile in their offerings. The items we have highlighted are small and given your attention would ensure that visiting Kittiwake is a truly 5* experience.

Sadly, due to Covid-19, we are still unable to provide the physical cream teas on the arrival day as this requires all the housekeepers to visit the office at the same time to collect their allocation for a day. As we are trying to minimise the spread of Covid-19 to our staff and trades, we felt that vouchers collected during the week for guests to redeem at their leisure in Ferrell’s bakery, prior to its closure, was a safer option.You may have heard via social media, but Ferrell’s & Son, who we used to supply our cream teas have now closed and therefore we have had to look into other welcome back items for our guests in the free welcome pack provided by Carbis Bay Holidays. As we are self catering accommodation, only a starter pack of cleaning materials are usually provided for your use.
Regarding your effort to contact our office, we have checked your record and we cannot see a call made to the local office, which is on the same number (01736 630015 option 2 or you get straight through if you are calling from a number on your booking form). We would very much like to have had the opportunity to discuss the concerns you had and then would have rectified any issues you were unhappy with to the best of our ability.
