“More emphasis should be made on how steep both paths down to Porthmeor and Town Centre.”

Clearer instructions i.e. beach windbreakers and bodyboards supplied by the property owner.

Thank you very much for your constructive feedback! We will look into the points raised by you and hope you overall had a lovely stay. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holiday Team Property Owner

Tate Reach

Tate Reach in St Ives Cornwall is ideally located near to the Tate gallery, the glorious Porthmeor Beach and the picturesque harbour and other golden beaches, and offers a choice of fabulous holiday homes.

The property

Whistler, a two-bedroom, first-floor apartment in the Barnoon neighbourhood of Tate Reach, provides fantastic views of St Ives. This pet-friendly apartment can accommodate four people including an infant and a medium-sized dog, making it ideal for a family vacation to the coast. Whistler's town centre, Tate St Ives, scenic train routes, and the lovely Porthmeor Beach are all easily accessible. This apartment on the first floor of this Victorian house has been lovingly rebuilt in line with its original characteristics, including cast iron vintage radiators, soaring ceilings, a Victorian feature fireplace, and a picture bay window. The bright and wide open-plan sitting and dining area, which is bathed in natural light and adorned with wonderful historical pieces, gives a breathtaking view of St Ives; relax and take in the scenery, or watch TV on the Smart TV with DVD player and Sky. A medieval dining table with seating for four has been carefully positioned within the living area bay window, offering visitors a wonderful view while dining, and the table can also be unfolded just for two for a romantic meal. The contemporary kitchen is well-equipped for your vacation, with oak cabinets, sleek black granite effect worktops, and a washer/dryer; for dining alfresco, it's perfectly placed near the back patio, which can be accessible by French doors that open out onto the far-reaching vistas. There are two sea view bedrooms, one king-size and the other twin, both with en-suite bathrooms and plenty of storage. Clean up in the family bathroom, which has a lovely P-shaped whirlpool bath and a huge bay window with views of the island and out to sea. After a day at the beach, hang wet swimsuits and wetsuits on the enclosed decking area's convenient, retractable washing line, which also has outdoor seating where you can enjoy a cool drink in the sunshine or read a book in peace. The nearest beach is Porthmeor, which is truly spectacular; the long stretch of golden sand has been awarded a blue flag for its crystal clear waters, which are great for catching a wave, and it also has a surf school and seasonal lifeguard service. If you're hungry, there's a beachside café right on the sand, or the Michelin-starred Porthminster Beach Café. Around the lovely waterfront, on another of the town's great lengths of sand, there are a profusion of cafés and eateries advertising fresh sea food and local veggies. For a unique gift, browse the shops and galleries that line St Ives' cobblestone streets, or pay a visit to the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, which are all right on your doorstep! Take your dog along the South West Coast Path to Porthkidney Beach, which is pet-friendly all year and offers a beautiful expanse of golden sand. Taking the scenic railway back to your accommodation is a fantastic option; it is not only relaxing, but also thrilling, as it connects the surrounding area, passing through beaches and affording panoramic views of the sea. The kids will like the rides at Flambards in Helston, Camel Creek Adventure Park near Wadebridge, and feeding the animals at Paradise Park near Hayle. Visit the Minack, a small open-air theatre perched on the edge of a Cornish cliff, for a play or take a family photo at Land's End's renowned sign post. Alternatively, stroll out to the beautiful St Michaels Mount from Penzance at low tide, which is set on its own island, or head to the rugged North Coast to Tintagel Castle, where King Arthur was made with the help of Merlin, or so the story goes. Finally, don't miss the chance to walk above the trees in the Eden Project's tropical rainforest near St Austell. This holiday home is named after James Whistler, a brilliant American artist who was inspired by the beauty of St Ives and decided to make it his home in 1884; we hope you'll quickly discover why and fall in love with St Ives as well!

About the location

ST IVES

Penzance 6 miles.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!
