“We absolutely loved The Salt House - it went beyond our expectations.”

Just about everything was catered for and it made for a wonderful, luxurious stay in such a beautiful place. We do have a couple of points if the property owner is interested: - A couple of large casserole type dishes would have been very helpful - particularly given how well the kitchen was otherwise equipped. - The en-suite in the North Bedroom would have benefitted from a towel rack closer to the sink Other than that, it was truly a breathtaking house in a breathtaking location...

“Salthouse is wonderful.”

Very spacious with a fantastic attention to detail everything you could possibly need from a home from home. Everything in the property is quality and that along with its amazing location and breathtaking views make it absolutely perfect. Also a special mention for whoever does the cleaning, gardening and maintenance. This house is immaculately clean both inside and out. Really could not wish for anything better. First class.

“We were all extremely happy to stay at Salt House.”

It was clean , with every facility / item we required . I appreciated the little guides to each room and when we needed to figure out how to use something we had excellent written instructions. The space was fantastic for a group of 8 adults and a toddler, we didn’t feel on top of each other . The location and views were amazing . We all said we would come back and we are a fussy lot .

“This was a fantastic choice for our family holiday which included four children under four.”

It’s position between two lovely beaches, Porthminster and Carbis Is wonderful. It is also an easy walk into St Ives. The house was extremely comfortable and well organized. Lots of space for a big family !

“Absolutely stunning property, we were not disappointed !”

! We had a great time at the Salthouse, it was how we imagined if we had won the lottery, a real taste of luxury. The views were amazing (wish the trees were lower) but managed to spot some dolphins from the living room balcony, keep an eye out for birds diving in the sea and circling above and the dolphins won’t be far away ! Lovely walk down the coastal path to the beach. We used the Harbour Hotel Spa with the complimentary passes, not to be confused with the Carbis Bay Spa, which is also nearby, along the coastal path. The treatments were amazing, definitely recommend. We visited St Ives, parking in Trentwith car park and got the bus down and back for £1.50 each way. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and my only preference would be bigger beds, to add to the luxury, none the less they were king size and super comfy ! There were some days when a lot of us showered closer together, unintentionally and we used all the hot water so some had to shower luke warm but this resolved and we spaced it out on following days a bit to avoid this again. All facilities were spot on, plenty of equipment in the kitchen for everyone. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back one day. Thank you so much !!

“We absolutely loved the house!”

! It’s definitely a 5 star house. And the views are to die for! It’s stunning and has everything you could need. The kitchen is great for cooking in and we loved all of the appliances. The dining table is large and had plenty of space for our family of 6 adults and 2 children. The lounge is a great social area and we loved the huge sofas! Also it’s great to have the separate snug for those wanting to watch TV and not disturb the others. The only thing we would comment on is the beds were small for the size of bedrooms and perhaps could benefit from being upgraded. Location wise the house is great. It’s a short 15 min walk into St Ives along the coastal path and an even shorter one to Carbis Bay beach. We also walked to The Gannet and The Cornish Arms in Carbis Bay - both were great!

“This was our second visit to the Salt House and it was even better than we remembered.”

We spent Christmas with the family and the house has every mod con and utensil that we could have possibly needed to host a magnificent Christmas lunch. “We had a lovely stay at the Salt House and it had all the facilities we needed with amazing views!”

However, the cleanliness was not up to standard for the rating of the house. The kitchen and living room floor was filthy which wasn’t great with a crawling baby. We ended up cleaning it ourselves. The downstairs bathrooms smelt damp and the beds were hard and not the greatest comfort for any of us who stayed. We had trouble with the hot water to start with but this was fixed once I contacted the team who sent a plumber out to fix it. The fire was also not working which we were told about beforehand but it was a disappointment.

We are very glad to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at Salt House. Our cleaners were very disheartened though to find on your departure cigarette butts all over the garden and discarded bottles. Salt House has been cleaned for seven years by one of the areas renowned cleaning companies who are used to cleaning to the highest standards, and properties are always checked by Carbis Bay Holidays and periodically cleaning is also checked independently by Visit England. Salt House further benefits from considerable annual re investment meaning we have retained one of the highest ratings from Visit England since opening years ago, recognising all furnishings and decoration, including mattresses, are of high quality and replaced and refreshed whenever needed. We are aware that the only issue from your review that you reported during your stay was regarding the hot water. On visiting, our representative found the programmer had been adjusted, and simply re set it back to the changeover setting, solving the issue. We gather they also made efforts to advise you of this, but you remained unobtainable for the remainder of your stay. We are sorry the fire place remains out of action whilst a new seal is sourced. “We have had a brilliant week at the Salthouse as mentioned the property is very comfortable, very well equipped and a great place to bring the whole family, the location is excellent with some of the best beaches I have ever seen.”

The house is lovely, however the price being charged and particularly for next year, I expect it to be five star. The set up is great and very comfortable, although I felt aspects could have been cleaner, there was areas of dust and cobwebs on high level hard to reach areas that where untouched. The property has not been decorated this year and particularly the outside looks tired, quiet a few of the external lamps are not working in the garden again not what is expected for the 5 star price tag. With that said we have had a brilliant week at the Salthouse as mentioned the property is very comfortable, very well equipped and a great place to bring the whole family, the location is excellent with some of the best beaches I have ever seen. Shame about the Carbis Bay Hotel having withdrawn the spa passes and discounts, this was a great benefit the Salthouse offered, to set it apart again perhaps the property could be equipped with a hot tub. Overall I would highly recommend the Salthouse, however next years rates are just too much of an increase for our budget.

“Salt House was fantastic!”

Great location just a short walk to St Ives, beautiful house with loads of space for the family and incredible views of the ocean. There was a small issue with the hot water on the first couple of days which had been raised by a previous tenant and could have been addressed before our stay. However the property manager arranged for an engineer to come out quickly and resolve the issue. All in all, we had a brilliant stay and we definitely hope to book Salt House again at some point in the future.

“The house is beautiful and very comfortable and we had a brilliant, multi generational stay to celebrate Grandma's birthday.”

However, we had an issue with the hot water supply. If you were 4th in the shower it would be cold. We figured out staggered shower times very quickly so this isn’t a complaint just something to be aware of.

“From the moment we stepped out of our car and opened the gate we walked down the stairs to the front of the house,we were wowed!”

!! It was like something you see of television.. the view of the sea throughout the whole house was breathtaking,sunrises everyday , the baths ..showers were out of this world .. the games were a big bonus too .. and the torches were handy in an evening.. the spa passes . A lovely walk down to the beach but very steep if back ..not recommended I'm unsteady on your feet .. parking at Carbis Bay beach is now £20. A day tiny carpark as the hotel since we've come has taken alot of the space but..thats my only moan. We saw seals at Carbis in the evening and the bar we had cocktails.. very stunning house unfortunately we looked into next year same date but no way can we pay more than double we paid this year its quite shocking how the price has jumped from £3.000.00 to over £7.000.00!!!

This house and the location exceeded our expectations and we would all most certainly go back again. A dream property that I would love to own myself! The only reason we didn’t score a perfect 5 stars is that there were a few minor problems with malfunctioning TVs, media, bulbs and hot water on day 1. They could have been checked during changeover. However, the housekeeper and other staff were very friendly and sorted most of the problems out while we were there. Otherwise it was just the most idyllic holiday."

Several sea fishing trips also leave from the harbour daily. With its semi-Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is Cornwall’s premier holiday resort. With something to offer visitors all year-round including food and music festivals, art and cookery classes, Christmas markets and the legendary new year festivities and fireworks displays.
